Sunday Meeting

Just a quick note about the Sunday meeting with the pastor.
It was truly wonderful that the pastor was able to spend the whole evening with us. He showed us his house and his summer house. He has a huge garden (around 2 acres) and it is full of everything. He says it is part of his mission. Church uses vegetables from his garden the whole winter. Just last week they cut up the last pumpkin. He says he loves to feed the kids in the camp with organic food that he grows. He also has about 60 fruit trees. Totally amazing. He is an example for other pastors for gladly come to get some plants for their new gardens from him.

Pastor Peter is truly amazing person. His family came to Latvia as missionaries for 1 year and it has been 18 years by now. He mission is the new generation. Once he heard the saying: when an old man gets saved, the soul is saved; when a young child gets saved: both the soul and the life is saved.

One of the large areas of his ministry in Latvia is teaching Christianity in public schools. This year around 10,000 Bibles will be distributed to kids. The church also hosts teachers' training several times a year, where public school teachers are taught how about the Bible. A lot of them are getting saved. It is truly a great ministry.

New Beginnings

Hi there,
We wanted to post something earlier... but you know how it goes: new place, busy life, trying to settle down, running a business...
We made it to Latvia safely though it took us long time to get here. The kids did really great and right now everyone seems to be used to the time difference, food difference, weather difference etc.
The spring was just staring here when we came: still chilly in the morning, delicate flowers and pale green everywhere. Then everything started blooming filling the air with amazing scents.
We are still looking for a house and hopefully will find a perfect temporary place in June. Please, pray that God brings us a place to enjoy our family, have people over and do His work.
We did go to see a baby doctor and soon we will visit a hospital where our little one will come into the world. I met a nice Latvian lady who has 4 sons (3 of them were delivered by the midwife, one was home birth), so we are planning to go to the center where this midwife works. She seems to be one of the best best choices for natural birth in the whole country.
